And then my head burst into flames

I spent a part of this weekend thinking of home stuff. Shocking, right? I want to demonstrate a little something for you. This is a little taste of the style difference between my sister-in-law and me.

My sister-in-law's paint sample choices.

...and mine.

Nothing about these samples is in any way a final choice for the house, but these are colors I'm...flirting with. (What can I say? They talk a good game).

What I did not do this weekend was get in my long run...again! I fail at life. I've got a half marathon this upcoming weekend and a 10-mile race next weekend. And I'm signing a contract on a house this Thursday and I have a meeting at the bank to finalize the loan this Friday.

And I still don't have a vacuum or a hose or kitchen or bathroom soap or ceiling fans or a guest bed or shower curtains or toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, bath towels, hot pan holders, pots and pans, silverware, dishware, trash cans...

The dogs, however, think life is amazingly care-free. Add a new toy and you've got an hour of this:
Stress? What's that?? I'm totally kicking ass at squeaky toy tug-o-war!

Oh, and then, this morning, the radio in the Jeep quit working. For the LOVE!

So anyway, I've got an hour-and-a-half long run scheduled for today. I'm looking forward to it.

Hey, wanna see something fantastic?

Yeah. I know.

  1. ouch. That sounds like my week last week. Minus any of the house-related things (except our sink and bathtub overflowing) but yeah. The stress. Oh the stress.

Also, your paint choices are way more fun.

  2. Don't worry about all of the stuff for the house. Just get the things you need to actually live and then after you're moved in for a few days, get everything else. Believe me. Otherwise you'll buy stuff beforehand and suddenly realize you hate it two days after moving in and have to go get something else.

Good luck on the run. Are you still planning on doing the half? That sounds semi-dangerous.

  3. Silly me, of COURSE that's what keeps setting off the metal detectors...
I admire your color choices. Alas I seem to always end up with your sister's colors in my house.
All the best with everything! Hang in there.

    1. Thanks! And I swear it's not my abs. I could lift up my shirt and prove it to you :-P (that sounded dirty).

  4. Moving is so stressful. Don't worry about getting everything right away (well, other than the vacuum, you need that). You'll be making a lot of Target and Lowe's trips.

I hope your run is going well!

    1. I've already been doing vacuum research. I really think having that will take away a little of the anxiety. MUST CLEAN!

  5. Isn't moving supposed to be like the number one stressful event of life, second only to like death in the family? Moving sucks. It will be so worth it when it's all over though. In my world, pots and pans come WAAAYYYY before vacuum on a scale of importance, I don't know what drugs Kara is on. While all this is stressful, at least you are safe in the knowledge that you have freaking hot abs. Just look at them from time to time when you need a pick me up.

  6. Wow, you have a lot going on. Don't worry, everything will work out. All the little stuff isn't that important. You can get all the house stuff as you go. You don't have to do it all at once (although I know you want to). Good luck on your long run. I bet it will be a big stress reliever:)

  7. You are busy, but as long as you have toilet paper and a toilet that flushes life is good! The radio in my car works..kind of, it randomly switches from radio to disc player and am to fm. A little annoying.

  8. I painted our bedroom walls that bright green apple color among your swatches. It matches a painting I have and actually looks awesome with a dark brown accent wall. Make that house your own!

  9. Definitely don't worry about getting all the stuff for the house. When we moved into our house, it looked like an empty house with a few cheap college dorm room furniture pieces. It quickly got to the point where we just want to get rid of stuff...people will start offering you stuff left and right too!

  10. Check to see if the fuse blew for your car radio. That happened to me once and instead of a hundred dollar fix it was a dollar fix. Hope it is something simple like that!
