TEN

....is the number of appointments/meetings/classes I've scheduled, had scheduled for me, and have gone to in this whole house buying process.
The PERFECT illustration of my thinking process lately.

March 16

  1. Orientation class
  2. Home buyer education course
  3. Loan meeting
  4. Financial counseling session
  5. Contract signing
  6. Property manager meeting
  7. Loan meeting #2
  8. Homeowners insurance meeting
  9. Closing attorney meeting
  10. Financial counseling session #2

May 1 (today)

And as of today, there are 24 days until my closing date.

Remember how, when this all started, I had my eye on a townhouse that was still being built and was the same price as the house I'm actually buying? Well, I found out yesterday that they increased the price on that house and I wouldn't have been able to afford it. At first I questioned my choice to buy the house that I'm buying instead of waiting for the newly built house and now I'm so freaking glad I didn't wait!

Dear Guardian Angel, YOU ROCK!

ALSO, I forgot to tell you all yesterday. Until tomorrow, you can take 20% off your purchase in my shop by entering the coupon code YAYSPRING at checkout. Go on. You know you wanna!

A good day to work from home

Today President Obama is making a speech on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. This is where I work. Because my boss is awesome, she gave us the choice of working off-site for the day. I, of course, jumped at the chance and I am writing this from the comfort of my dining room, in my running clothes, having not showered yet.

Apparently my boss didn't take her own advice, and is currently at work. We just received this email from her:
OK, you all can thank me later for your option to work off-site today – things are crazy here! ... There are cops everywhere, and the line of students waiting to get into Carmichael is wrapped all the way around our building past the law school. And it’s more than three hours before the speech begins!

I’ll keep you posted on all the fun….

I bring "the fun".

OH, but there's more. After his speech, he's being interviewed by Jimmy Fallon for his show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. This will also take place on campus.

I am so glad I'm not in Chapel Hill right now. Not that I wouldn't want to see the president speak, but it's nice knowing I can do that from the computer I'm typing this post on instead of battling crowds of starstruck students.

Announcement #2:

I added a bunch of new Noodle Hugger and collar designs to the shop yesterday. Go check 'em out!

Make your pup patriotic.

Did someone say olives?

I've recently added a bulk order option for Noodle Huggers. If you are interested in buying a large quantity for a group, team, or any other purpose, let me know!

Bulk rates pricing:
quantity     price/piece
20-29          $4.65
30-39          $4.50
40-49          $4.25
50+              $4.00

Shipping for bulk orders is $6.
(Please allows two weeks for production and shipping).

Would you rather fight the crowds to see the president speak in person or watch from home?

Legos and life sentences

On Friday I placed an order on the Lego website. The reason for which, I'll reveal later. (It's super awesome!) Also awesome is that, after you place an order, all the Legos are so excited for you!

I wonder what the story is behind the beaver hat.

You know those days when you're feeling ugly or like you have no sense of style and all it takes to make you feel better is to go to a public place and people watch? I have an awesome new solution for those days when you're just not feeling so smart: watch moronic people on TV.

Sure, there's the Kardashians or Toddlers and Tiaras or any of the Real Housewives shows, but Netflix has opened up a whole new world of idiots! I'm a fan of Investigation Discovery shows and yesterday I discovered a fabulous show called Prison Wives. These people are effing crazy. CA-RAZY!

One woman's husband cheated on her with his ex-wife the day they were all supposed to go on the Jerry Springer show (yeah). The day the show was to air, the ex-wife was found maliciously murdered and her blood was found on his shoes. BUT he still claims he's innocent and so does his wife. This is just one of the fabulously batshit stories.

One dude divorced his wife in order to marry a woman serving a life sentence in prison. He kept a mannequin wearing a wedding dress in a room of his house so he could feel like she was there with him.

Seriously. If you're feeling a little DUH, I highly recommend this show.

Have you bid in my auction yet??

There are several items that haven't been bid on yet and most of them won't be sold in the shop again, so jump on this! Auction ends tomorrow morning at 9am!

Ch-ch-ch-changes

On Friday I did something I never thought was going to happen: I was able to pay off a credit card! Granted, I have two others with much higher balances, but those aren't accruing interest so I feel ok with paying those off month by month.

I think I'm going to save my old credit cards (with the numbers cut out) and gift cards to create something big and awesome someday.

Like this...but different.

or this...but bigger

ALSO, you guys, this morning I got up before work and was able to get in a 40-minute elliptical workout. Pippi was so confused. She better get used to it! After then doing some weights, I laid back down for a half hour instead of eating breakfast. So, yeah, my morning workout plan isn't flawless, but today is just day one.

Let's talk business a moment. I've got a few more new patterns coming to the shop (including more sparkly ones!). That being said, I've got a ton of older patterns (Noodle Huggers and collars) that I want to move out (they're no longer paying rent). I had an idea of having an auction to sell these items. What do you think? Would you be interested in taking part in an auction for some super amazing Noodle Huggers and fun pet collars?

A couple of culprits:

RAWR!

Would you bid?

Have you ever gotten crafty with old credit or gift cards?

P.S. a sneak peak at a few new patterns...

What does "Noodle Hugger" mean to you?

When I'm bored, I sometimes do strange things like talk to the dog or furnish my future house via Pinterest. Last night I decided to do a Google search for "Noodle Huggers" just to see what was there. (In case you're late to the game, here's a refresher). Of course, the first six images are from my shop, which is exciting. As I got further into the image results, they got pretty interesting. Of course, there are lots of pictures of, well, noodles.

kelp noodles? Okee dokee.

And then there are some real gems.

From a website called Chinese Etiquette Tips for Tourists
The caption under the photo: TIP: Only hug trees in informal settings.

Apparently this is a chicken noodle soup fundraising contest winner.

Alien Face Hugger Chopsticks This is giving me the creepy
crawlies.

Another face hugger reference:

This one might be my favorite.
It's a beverage barge. I don't know about you, but I think this
is flippin genius.

Awwww

Today I actually added a new size (1.5 inches) and design of Noodle Hugger to the shop. Thanks to Laurie for finding this ribbon.

Now this is a Noodle Hugger.

When you're bored, do you Google search fun things? Another favorite of mine is to search things on Urban Dictionary.
