Maybe all good things come in a bottle

"Working at home" takes on a whole new meaning when you have a dog.

I decided to get some work done at home today since I'm still feeling ..."eh", and also do some research on ENT doctors for that second opinion I've been meaning to get. I had this false sense of working at home being awesome and relaxing and care-free. Except...I have a dog. Not just any dog...a dog who thinks she needs attention ALL THE LIVE LONG DAY! Do you know how difficult it is to do work when you have a forty pound ball of energy on your lap?

So anyhow, I think I've decided on a doctor to contact, thanks to some very helpful coworkers. I just need to figure out how to get my records from the other doctor's office. I don't know why but I feel like this is going to be like pulling teeth from a rabid crocodile. Only time will tell.

Yesterday, on my last day of "vacation", I decided to make banana bread, using bananas that I'd had in the freezer. Have you ever done this? Do you know how disgusting bananas are when you thaw them after being frozen? I was sure I wouldn't want to eat the bread after seeing that, but thankfully it came out looking much more delicious than thawed bananas.

I am delicious!

I used the recipe for Bakers' Secret Banana Bread from the Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook and made it my own by using half as much sugar as the recipe called for and adding in a boatload of cinnamon and some oats. This is the first time I made banana bread successfully, without it overflowing in the oven. Score one for me!

I'm currently eating the last of it. Apparently my sister-in-law and I have the power to finish off an entire loaf in 24 hours. I'm thinking pumpkin bread may be my next order of business.

I also took the opportunity of my free day to paint my nails. Little did I know they'd turn out looking like something the younger me would dream up, but I still like 'em.

Everything's better with sparkles!

I also discovered something I wish I'd had the foresight to add to my Christmas list.

Boyfriend in a Bottle

I'm not sure why he's gotta be in a bottle. It seems pretty difficult to date someone who's encased in glass, but maybe there's something I'm overlooking. Maybe this is a best-kept secret or something. What do you think?

It looks like a new fad in boy bands.

  1. Working from home wouldn't be fun if Bungee did anything other than sleep all day. She's currently sleeping behind me so I can't lean back on the couch.

Thawed frozen bananas are disgusting! I have some bananas on the counter that need to be turned into banana bread soon!

  2. Riley and Annie just hang out and wait for me to move. They do really well with not bothering me. Now when I get food out - game on!

Boyfriend in a bottle? Do you have to add water to make him grow?

  3. I had no idea there was Hunger Games Cookbook, I must have it! I don't think it's crazy that two people ate a whole loaf of banana bread in 24 hours, since I ate one all by myself in that amount of time last week!! Thawed frozen bananas are slimy and gross, yuck!

  4. I have heard of boyfriend in a box (among other things) but never in a bottle.

I haven't made anything from the HG cookbook...must get on that!

  5. MMMM it's been too long since I've made banana bread. I can easily finish off a loaf in no time, as well. I would love to work from home, but I don't think I'd get anything done, and I don't even have a dog to blame. I'm dying for the Hunger Games cookbook!

  6. I work from home everyday and I would say at least 2 hours are spent with a cat in my lap while I type "around them". Glad you found a doctor- hopefully getting the records is easier than you think!

  7. Yeah, R&D just sleep all day when I work from home. Or whine and try to get in my lap where there is no room. They just want to sleep there, though. They could not care less that I am home otherwise.
