My scone!

Yesterday I did something I've never done before.

I ate a scone.

I ate a delicious blueberry scone, and in that moment, it's all I wanted to eat for the rest of my life. But then I realized that was probably my inner carbivore talking and didn't eat one for lunch, dinner, and snacks the rest of the day like I originally wanted to. I did, however, decide that I want to try my hand at making scones this weekend.

On a side note, just the word "scone" keeps reminding me of this scene from FRIENDS. (Basically every situation in life reminds me of a scene from FRIENDS, so this isn't exactly shocking).

I remembered around the holidays when Gina mentioned her proudest moment in the kitchen was when she made her delicious-looking pomegranate orange scones, and I've decided I'm going to try out this recipe. Since I'm a wimp when it comes to seeds, though, I think I'm going to sub the pomegranate arils for fresh cranberries instead (Gina's suggestion). Review to come on Monday :)

My mouth is watering!

Last week I put in an order from Amazon for more bags for shipping items from my shop. The cost of the bags was around $13 and the shipping cost was around $12. Since I'm a cheapskate, there's no way in poop I was going to pay that amount for shipping. I realized it was cheaper for me to add another item to my order to get the free shipping than it was for me to pay this shipping charge, so I finally ordered an item that's been on my wish list for a long long time.

The New Rules of Lifting for Women

I realized this week that I do what I can to "get through" the cardio part of workouts to get to the weights and other fun stuff, so I'm psyched to delve into this book...and to get my awesome shoulders back :)

And now, because I know you've been missing cute dog photos, here's one for you.

Hi Mom, this is a nice chair. Hey, where'd Rocco go?

Also, I learned a lesson.

Never wash your sports bra with a fluffy blanket.

Don't say I never told ya.

I'm not a scone fan. Too dry.

Are you excited to run 12 this weekend? Is it this weekend? It should be.

  2. I LOVE scones. I have the most gloriously easy recipe from Martha Stewart that I always use.

You amaze me. I will race through lifting (if I actually ever do it) to get to cardio. The only time I actually enjoyed it was when I did Body Pump.

  3. Exorbitant shipping makes me angry. Scones are delish. I ate the cinnamon chip ones from Trader Joes like it was my job when I was preggo.

  4. I love scones! YUMMY, blueberry ones. My mouth is watering now. When I worked at the office they made the BEST scones every. I tried my take on some, just once, it was a failure! BLAH. Can't wait to hear more about the book. That's awesome.

  8. How could you have never had a scone before! I am addicted to the pumkin ones at the farmers market in the summer. Sooo good. I have never made my own before - would be something fun to try!

I hear ya on the bra issuse. I washed a black fleece jacket with a blanket that my cats use. The black jacket looked white from the amount of cat hair attached to it when it came out of the dryer. Duh!

  9. I'm sort of amazed that you've never had a scone. The best is if you can find clotted cream to put on top. Damn, now my pregnant butt wants a chocolate chip scone with clotted cream. My husband is going to hate you.

    1. What is clotted cream? I have to say, the name doesn't sound too delicious.

  12. I still say scones are lame, but yours will be homemade, and therefore, delicious. I really want to hear about your weight workouts. I need some ideas. I get too overwhelmed about not knowing what to do, so I do nothing. I totally had that exercise postcard on my dorm room wall freshmen year of college!

  13. I cannot believe you had never had a scone. You poor deprived child. I love them and have tried my hand at them a few times. That dog picture has to be the cutest. One of the women I know here does New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women and she has incredible arms. Love to hear your results!
