I have a very comfortable lap. |
Kara's dog, Peanut, and I got some quality time this weekend. I don't know who enjoyed it more. She's awesome.
The real story of the weekend is how I drove five hours up to Maryland to spend the weekend with Kara and Alyssa. Alyssa ran the Lower Potomac River Marathon and Kara and I spectated like champs.
This was much appreciated at mile 8. |
The best response to this one: "He didn't train enough." |
This was a huge hit. Runners keep Imodium in business. |
At mile 19.5, Kara and I met up with Alyssa and Kara's neighbor Kim to run the last 6.5 miles with them to the finish.
This was around mile 11. Photobomber dude is getting schooled by two girls. |
Alyssa and Kara finished together and I decided to run in with Kim, who was finishing her first marathon! I also met a new blogger friend, Ashley. (Hi Ashley!) I am officially finally feeling confident about my second half in a month (at least I am today. We'll see what tomorrow brings).
My left calf is screaming at me today. I want to say I'm "looking forward" to foam rolling when I get home, but it's such a bittersweet activity. I tweeted about it this morning and my local Fleet Feet store responded. I'm about to take them up on this offer :)
More exciting news: A Facebook message today from Aspaeris Pivot Shorts led me to believe they may be coming out with new colors! Go over to their page and tell them what new colors you'd like them to come in. (Hint: purple! :)
What's your favorite color?
What's your favorite color to wear?
What's your favorite color to wear running?
I love that people responded to your signs. Mainly the "You know the 1st person..." one. I got a foam roller a couple months ago, mostly for my calves. I love it. My calves get so tight and me massaging them is not the same as someone else rubbing it or me beating it into submission with the foam roller. I'd take your running store up on their offer!!
ReplyDeletePS, I like running in colors! I just ordered a pair of bright yellow nike Pacer shorts with purple and white on the side ("lemon twist"?). You have lots of colorful clothes- I think they'd be right up your alley.
DeleteOh man, they sound awesome! I went to Dick's last week and tried on shorts because I need to replace a couple of my pairs, but they're just so expensive!
DeleteMy favorite color to run in is free! Most of my shirts, at least, are race freebies.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color is green, but you knew that :).
I sure did! ;-)
DeletePeanut loves you so much more than me. :)
ReplyDeleteOnly because you brought home a screaming child and scarred her for life. She gave me the insider scoop. She wants Pippi to come play with her.
DeleteThat means Emily should take her, right?
DeleteI would take that store up on their offer, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dog:) I love that you cheered your friend on and ran with her to the end. Awesome! I love pink and purple especially when running. I hope your calf feels better!
ReplyDeleteThose signs are amazing! I'm definitely going to be thinking of them when I am in the middle of my half this weekend aka hating life and likely randomly cracking up.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your half will go great! I'm running my second too and have managed to get myself completely freaked out over it. yay?
Your weekend sounds like so much fun. I can't get over those signs. I might laugh but I also might throw something at whoever was holding them if I was running an actual marathon ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat signs! My son made one for my first marathon that simply said 'don't die'. Good advice at mile 20 ;-D
ReplyDeleteLove the signs!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color is purple. My favorite colors to wear are red and purple..and lately, for running, dark pink.
My colors got complimented at a water stop at the race! My fingers are crossed for hot pink shorts next. Crazy your next half is so soon already!
ReplyDeleteOMG hilarious signage!
ReplyDelete1: Purple
2: Purple
3: Orange, but not orange shorts. They'd probably show the pee.
Hi Emily! Good to meet you this weekend. The signs were awesome!
