Scaring myself on purpose

This will totally make your day better. I just know it. I want one.

Yesterday afternoon I set out on a four-mile run around 4:45pm. By the time I got home it was dark out and I was seriously frightened. First, I thought maybe it had taken me way longer than it should have and it was now 8pm, but my Willy was telling me that it had not been 40 minutes. I'm so looking forward to the days getting longer. This is garbage.

I was especially frightened because, for some reason, I've had the show Wicked Attraction on Netflix in the background the last couple of days while I get work done. In case you have never heard of the show, here's the rundown
Little is known about the chemistry between two people that sparks a killing rampage. Forensic Psychologists and Criminal Profilers uncover horrifying clues and reveal the true stories of people driven by love to commit murder. Wicked Attraction investigates some of the most terrifying crimes in recent history and delves inside the criminal mind to explore the roots of these deadly murders and the psychological motivations behind deadly duos.
...and now I am a lot less afraid of being attacked by a rogue wild boar on my run than I am of being attacked by some psycho rapist killer and his deranged wife. It's a good thing I'm sticking to my training plan like glue and, as Alyssa put it, "A doctor's note is the only acceptable excuse".

On a lighter note, have you ever looked up your name on UrbanDictionary.com? My brother turned me onto this yesterday.

This one made me laugh:

What does UrbanDictionary.com say your name means?

Are you afraid of running in the dark?

  1. Haha, well, now that you published that I guess I better not slack on my plan! The dark can be scary. When there are no cars driving by I get nervous that now the killers have their shot.

  2. The Urband Dictionary stuff always makes me laugh.

    Here is mine:

Rachel: The most edible female name
Rachel is sooo edible - especially with cream

  3. I'd take it one step further and say a hospital admittance is the only acceptable excuse.

Kari: The best person in the world
She is the greatest person ever.

  4. Damn, I had a long witty reply and then blogger said I didn't have access to comment, and I can't remember what I wrote, so here:

Run more, bitch less. You can get that tattooed on your arm. :)

  5. Urbandictionary.com definitely not a site allowed at work...haha, I should have known.

I can't bring myself to run by myself in the dark. I'm a wuss.

  6. Urban dictionary is hilarious - I'm going to look up Vanessa now. I can only assume it will say I am awesome and sexy.

  7. Oh man, I could have used that devastating explosions page at work today. Of course, I was almost the explosion by the end.

I will disagree with Kari and say doctor's note is acceptable. Most running injuries that requires missing runs do not cause hospital time, so Ima give you pass, not that you are going to get injured, but ground rules are good. And running in the dark sucks. I have been spooked more times than I can count.

  9. Running in the dark along has never bothered me. Although, that show sounds creepy enough to change that if watched just prior to a run! :)

I think Run More, Bitch Less will have to become my running mantra. LOL!

  10. Apparently I am a hottie too:

    Laurie
A very beautiful, intelligent, and amazing young lady. Charming young men are bewitched by her loveliness.

    Laurie
A pretty girl who loves to have a good time. Generally has a great body and kickin' legs, best paired with curly hair. Has a bunch of friends and is a funny drunk.

Hmm, I had no idea. There were a bunch of other definitions too! Pretty funny!

I like going out in the dark but usually try to do it just in my neighborhood or somewhere with friends where I feel really really safe.

  11. Urban dictionary had quite a few interesting things to say about my name. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the night looking up everyone else's name!
