Also: My favorite smell, flower, AND another name for Purple (my favorite color).

When I first moved to North Carolina, my mom bought me a beautiful lavender plant. I kept it alive and looking and smelling lovely for a month or so, when I got an opportunity to work at my previous job in Virginia for two weeks. Since I hadn't found work in North Carolina yet, I jumped at the opportunity, and left the care of my lavender plant to my brother and sister-in-law at home. When I returned two weeks later, I was greeted by a dry and dying plant. My heart sunk. I wasn't able to nurse it back to health.

Since then, I've tried twice to grow lavender (from a seed, and also from a small plant that hadn't gotten blooms yet), with no success. I get the itch again every now and then, but have decided to just let it go, and leave the growing to the professionals.

I do, however, use lavender-scented laundry detergent, dryer sheets, body lotion, body wash, and air freshener in the car. It's not exactly the same, but the smell is amazing.

If your favorite smell was a color, what would it be?

  1. You're just all about the lavender, aren't ya? We use those glade scented oil plug ins, and one of my favorites is lavender vanilla. I love those two scents together!

I love any smell that isn't dirty diaper pail.
