Do you have a firm stick?

First of all:

You're welcome :)

And now that you have that stuck in your head, on to my training last week. It was much more successful than the week before! If you're like me, you have a total love/hate relationship with running. Currently, we're in love, we've set the wedding date, and our first love child is on the way. Halfway through my run yesterday, I was wondering why I don't do this all the time! Who needs sleep?! ...and then the muscle pain in my calves from Saturday's long run (7.6 miles) quickly reminded me. I foam rolled, I wore my calf sleeves, but it's still killing me. Because I'm a big researcher, I discovered another fun tool yesterday. The Stick.

Yeeaahh...in theory, it might work great, but I just couldn't get past the name. Because there's a 12-year-old boy in my brain. If you're like me, check out the How to Choose page and you'll understand. (long sticks, firm sticks, flexible sticks...I mean, come on!)

I actually do wonder if anyone has tried these and what you thought of them...if you were able to get past the name.

So anyhow...NINETEEN miles last week! A new personal weekly record. Wee!

And now, because Pinterest is like my new bedtime story, I've found some real gems lately that I want to share.

I'm now thinking Pippi is mixed with fennec fox

Story of my life.

This is a newborn hippo. I want to snuggle him.

How was your week of training?

Ever snuggled a baby hippo?

  1. That's what baby hippos look like????? I NEED ONE!

Awesome job on your mileage! You're an allstar. Now, you and I can leave everyone in the dust at the hot chocolate race. The faster you run, the sooner you get chocolate.

  3. I don't have a Stick, but before I got a foam roller I used to use a rolling pin (the kind you cook with), and that was pretty *ahem* hard. It felt great.

  4. My training last week, SUCKED!! Basically there was no training. I never looked at a duck that way before....funny. And my mind went straight to the gutter to with the firm stick!! Omg, must of been a guy that created it or a girl with a dirty little mind like ours! haha...

  5. Yeah....I'm kind of like you. Except that I mainly have a hate relationship with running. Not much love there :)

  6. That hippo looks like an alien, and my head hurts from trying to figure out the Adam and Eve thing, and I have the Fresh Prince song in my head. I am unhappy right now as a result of reading this, but great job on the miles.

  7. You will get me a baby hippo for my birthday. Please. I actually do have a The Stick, but I kind of hate it. I find it uncomfortable, but not in a good way and it's really awkward to maneuver it to the places I need to use it (like my hip). Personally I prefer the roller even thought that looks way more ridiculous when you use it.

On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of school
    When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'

I begged and pleaded with her day after day
But she packed my suite case and sent me on my way
She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket.
I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror
If anything I can say is that this cab was rare
But I thought 'Man forget it' - 'Yo home to Bel Air'

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight
And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later'
    I looked to my kingdom
    I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

Damn, I really couldn't help it.

  8. I saw you posted the link to that on twitter and I went to it. I guess I have a 12 year old boy in my head too...but I already knew that. Really? The stick? What were they thinking?

I love the "sorry for the unkind words" picture because that is so me. I need to show my husband that because he will appreciate it after living with me for so long.
