There's the guy who ran a marathon wearing flip flops (in 2:46.58, no less!),
34 runners tied together |
There's also a woman who hula-hooped through an entire marathon.
And, well, this guy..
There are many many more listed on the Guinness Book of World Records site.
As for me? It seems I may have set a new record in my half marathon this past weekend...running an entire half marathon with my eyes closed.
That's a great accomplishment:) Love all the pink, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI think blind runners are entitled to having a sherpa/helper on the course. You should totally get one for next time.
ReplyDeletePippi could become a guide dog perhaps.
DeleteI could be wrong, but I think there are blind marathon runners who time themselves to a helper. I feel like I've seen pictures of that a few times.
DeleteAt my half ironman there was a blind triathlete who completed the whole race!
DeleteJust think, if you start getting serious about this training, you can start nipping at the heels of the world's best blind runners! Victory could be YOURS and then you can rub in it that you're going home to watch TV.
ReplyDeleteastounding! you must have felt so refreshed from your 2 hour nap :)
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahah.....that is great!
ReplyDeleteANOTHER couple articles about running records, this one for "joggling"-- http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/19/sports/joggling-the-marathon-3-beanbags-and-26-2-miles.html?hp&_r=0
ReplyDeleteand this one for suit-marathoning (kinda Barney Stinson style): http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-10-11/news/34393299_1_guinness-world-record-marathon-suit
There's a famous guy in Baltimore who juggles while he runs, he's at tons of races!
DeleteI can't imagine doing a marathon in flip flops and so fast! a half with your eyes closed is pretty impressive too :)
ReplyDeleteA marathon in flip flops? That's crazy.
ReplyDeleteHilarious! And I'm loving those socks!
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is awesome....like straight from the bed to the race.
