Medicinal liquor

Dear world: I am in SO MUCH PAIN!

I'm not sure how I did it, but yesterday I must have moved in just the right way to complete eff up my lower back. Someone asked me if I did it while working out or if I tried to pick up Pippi or maybe while cleaning? Nope. All those scenarios would make way too much sense. I've had issues with my lower back since college and I can't afford to go to a chiropractor so I've just lived with the pain, but holy CRAP! I really think there should be such a thing as "medicinal shots of hard liquor". It looks like a forced rest day. Argh!

Now, because I promised a few people I'd mention it, the real reason I went to New York last month was to visit...a boy <gasp!>. His name is Shane and he's pretty flippin awesome. I met him in August., so I've been hiding it from you for six whole months. Don't hold it against me, okay?

Also, the knitting projects continue. Yesterday I knit a hat!
It's too bad I'm not a hat person, so I'll never wear it. Looks like I'll just have to give it away. (Thanks, Abbi, for the pattern. Now I have confidence for knitting in the round.)

Fancy pants coffee.
I really want to knit a blanket, but I hate using knit blankets (they're too hole-y) so I'll be giving that away, too. My friends and family are about to get so lucky.

And, for your viewing pleasure, I found a new awesome website. Cute animals + bad language = hours of entertainment. Enjoy it. You're welcome.

Rawwwwwr.

The one where I met Elmo

You know when you get sick with a cold twice in less than three months? Before November I hadn't been sick in over two years and now this. Balls!! I even underwent the dreaded strep test for nothing. Apparently my sore throat was caused by post-nasal drip. So...all our lives we swallow food and drinks and things are peachy, but the moment phlegm ends up down there, it sets fire to our throat? Anatomy is magical.

A picture of me this weekend, including the crazy eyes.

Other things I've been up to:
Yarn I already had and a $1 wreath form. Doing "poor" the
right way.

More knitting!

Since this was a "beginner" project, it didn't include making a thumb piece, so I was disappointed. I then tried knitting "in the round," which was a huge disaster...again and again and again.

Surprisingly, this made sense...for about five minutes.

So I've given up trying to make anything other than a scarf for now. Because I'm a weenie.

In other news...a few things I did while in New York:
I sang the ABCs with Elmo.

I went to a hockey game which included an amazing fight!
This is the aftermath.

I had my first experience with ice wine. Not too bad.

And...'BONIES! I have a strange love of Zambonies. They're like gigantic ice vacuums. What could be better?

I wish I could vacuum my house like this. Pippi would love it.

You're kidding me, right?

Starting next week, I'm going to be back to running! Insanity has taken a back seat lately since I've been sick. I attempted it a couple of times, but when taking a shower uses up all my energy, an hour-long high-intensity workout isn't very feasible. Come ooooon health!

The internets strike again

Thanks to the internet and a growing need in me to always be doing something, I taught myself to be a grandma this weekend!

Yes. Yes, I do feel cooler now. Thanks for asking. I've attempted a "scarf" twice and last night while I was in the shower, Pippi destroyed my latest attempt by chewing up my needles. It's a good thing I have more coupons for Michael's.

Wanna know what else makes me cooler? The most awesome hat ever.
On sale at Old Navy for $5? Yes, I needed it.

Happy early birthday to me.

The last couple of days have been unseasonably warm and, especially after the Summer we had, it really annoys me! It's freaking December and it's supposed to be 70 degrees out on Saturday. It's currently 63. I've got sweaters and scarves and boots just itching to be worn. Is anyone else annoyed by this? No? Just me? Penguin hat is so bored in the closet.

This has nothing to do with anything except that it's hilarious.

Also, this weekend I ordered myself a space heater. It's always at least three degrees warmer upstairs in my house than it is downstairs, which is just enough for my feet and hands to stay icy cold when it's cold outside.

Since I can't flick a switch and turn on a nice warm fire, I'll let this fancy little fella keep me warm instead. I just decided his name will be Peter. Peter the Heater!

I know a little puppy who is going to love it too.

Just don't deny me of my blankets and we're good.
