A cure for my misshapen head?

Today my friend, Kara, posted a review and giveaway for Bondi Bands! I've heard of these before, and am very interested in trying them out.

If you're like me, those regular headbands they sell in the store don't stay on your head. Why do they continue to sell these? I think I have one of every kind in my bathroom drawer, each one I wore for probably ten minutes and then cussed as it fell to the floor, and threw it in that drawer. They slip off the back of my head, no matter how I wear my hair or how far forward or backward I put them. They're crap.

Enter Bondi Bands. The claim:
"Bondi bands are a comfy, colorful and creative way to hold your hair back whether you're riding in a convertible, rushing out the door to get your kids, or getting some exercise. Bondi Bands are an easy fix for your hair. Check out our wicking fabric bands; they will absorb and evaporate buckets of sweat."
Did you read that? BUCKETS of sweat! I sweat buckets and then some. So they are telling me it will not only stay on my head, but sop up my disgustingness and possibly keep the stinging sweat out of my eyes? Umm..yes please!

So I, of course, entered the giveaway. And, if I don't win, I'm sure I'll end up buying one, given the great reviews. They make them in all colors, and also some with sayings on them. Some of my favorites:
I walk faster than you run

I get made fun of all the time because I walk fast. I also get annoyed if I'm walking down a sidewalk and someone in front of me slows me down. I've got places to be!

I run so I can EAT

I love this one. Since my running "career" is so sporadic, mine would say "I work out so I can eat". Same idea.

Super MOM!
I'm not a Mom, but if I were, I'd probably get this one. How cool! I think every mom deserves to feel Super.

I also found this kind of amusing: they sell pigtail hats. Genius! If I still had long hair, I'd totally rock it. I'm good at making a fool of myself. Why not do it in style :)

I also recently entered a giveaway for Sweaty Bands over at Megan's blog. I did not win (Kara did!), but I want to try these, too. They're a bit more expensive than the cheap drugstore ones, but seriously, I probably could have bought ten of them with the amount of money I've spent on the crappy ones! If they work, they're well worth it in my book.

FAIL

Today I fail at blogging. I'm up against a crazy deadline at work where there are a million and a half projects all due this Friday (Ok, so maybe more like 15, but still that's a lot), and the other designer in my division (my supervisor), is on vacation this week. I don't mind at all picking up the slack. I'd much rather be super busy at work then sitting bored, especially when it's 80 degrees and sunny out!! It's probably a good thing today that my office window is behind me. But that just means my blogging brain has been sitting idle.

I do want to share one fun thing, though. I was at HomeGoods this weekend and I found a case for an iPhone that was covered in jewels (of the fake variety, but sparkley and lovely all the same). I really wanted to get it for someone and since I don't have an iPhone, I decided I'd get it for my friend, Erin. Well, it wasn't for her "generation" of iPhone, so I couldn't get it. I did, however, proceed to search Amazon for a cover like it for her which, in turn, made me look for one for my iPod Touch. We all need something sparkley in our lives!

And so, this Friday (payday), I'm going to order us each one:

For her

For me
PURPLE!!

I hope to catch up with everyone soon! My blogging brain misses you.

Color me obnoxious

When given the choice between an obnoxiously fun color and a neutral brown, black, gray, or what-have-you "blah" color, I'll choose the obnoxiously fun color every time. Life's short. Be obnoxious! (Or something like that).

That said, what do you think of the new design? WELCOME SPRING!

A few examples of my neutral-deficient life:

When you're at the beach, you gotta go bright!
(I just realized that I still own this shirt, and this
picture was taken somewhere around 2005.
Yikes!
Kailani, my sweet ride :)
Winter coat #1

Winter coat #2
This is my dad's dog, Lexi. That obnoxiously purple wall in the
background? That's the color I painted my room when I lived
at my Dad's.
Yellow, like sunshine!
(my brother and me at my cousin's wedding)
Guess which one is me :)

I do own things that are colored neutral, but I always try to wear some color with them. Why? Why NOT?!

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

Thanks to all that is good and wonderful, today is FRIDAY! For some reason I've been so exhausted this week. I was in bed before 8pm last night and when the alarm went off this morning I wanted to cry.

And then my morning went like this: after breakfast and getting ready for work, I went to put on my monogram ring (one of my favorites and a gift from Amanda) and I couldn't find it. I searched maybe ten minutes before deciding to just sulk about it and put on a different ring, and so I did...and realized the monogram ring was already on my finger.

I then went downstairs to gather my things and head to work. I had to climb up on the counter to reach the only travel coffee mug left, in the back of the cabinet. I poured the coffee, got out the creamer, and knocked the mug of coffee all over the counter. I took it as a sign...

and let Starbucks make my coffee this morning. Meet my grandé skim peppermint latté. Yes, grandé. I just didn't think the tall was going to cut it this morning.

I've always been told that things happen in threes, so I spent the drive to work SURE I was going to hit a deer, or a person, or a telephone pole. But surprise surprise, none of the above ensued. Woo hoo! I was, however, asked by a coworker two doors down, via email, if I have a spoon. I did. And I was hoping I wasn't the butt of a joke and that she wasn't going to follow it up with..."wanna spoon with me?", or something equally as horrifying.

Anyhow, happy frickin Friday!! Onto the goods...
  1. The best prank I ever pulled was  something lame; probably the time I helped my mom with a surprise birthday party for my stepdad. It was epic, but I'm not sure that it's a "prank". I've sort of sworn off of pranks ever since an unfortunate April Fool's joke in college (not done by me, but blamed on me) gone horribly wrong.
  2. The best prank ever pulled on me was  again, this isn't exactly a "prank", but I'm not feeling very nostalgic today. When I won my award last week, my coworkers very slyly kept it a secret from me, which was awesome.
  3. A day without  love from the dog  is a day wasted.
  4. The most important things in life are  relationships. All kinds of relationships. And purple. And peanut butter. And cookies.
  5. I dream of  Genie! (no, not really.) I dream of all sorts of strange things. I'm not sure where most of my dreams come from and I wish I could dream of normal things, like flying purple unicorns.
  6. I dread  getting up in the morning to go to work. I love my job, I just wish there were more hours between nighttime and morning time to get more sleep.
  7. A discovery I made this week was  it's all right here. The days of referring to myself as a "dork" are definitely over.

And now, in honor of April Fools' Day, a prank that my stepdad said he and his siblings used to pull on each other when they were younger: Put a rubber band around the kitchen sink sprayer so that the trigger is engaged and when the unsuspecting victim turns on the water, it sprays at them. Video here (because it's just funnier to see it in action).

Happy Friday!
