Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY (and other stuff)

I'm feeling rather lazy today, so I'm filling in the blanks instead of coming up with a witty post. I feel like this week has been at least 8 days long, and this week, the puppy has decided to wake up in the middle of the night, every night. Last night I woke up to hear her chewing on something that didn't sound familiar. I turned on the light (at 2am) to see that she'd helped herself to the contents of my purse and was chewing on my Oakley sunglasses (arrgghh!!!!) Thankfully, I got to her before she did any damage. I would have been seriously pissed if she'd destroyed them.

This comes on the day after Rocco ransacked the house. Yesterday Amanda came home to find Rocco had destroyed another living room pillow, my kickboxing workout DVD, and Amanda's camera. Seriously. Couldn't he have destroyed something less near-and-dear, like those Beavis and Butthead DVDs my brother has, or that boring Bob Harper cardio DVD?

So, anyhow, I'm tired. I had a dream last night that I won $300 and I thought it was amazing because now I could purchase all the materials I need to start making things to sell on etsy! ... and then I woke up. I think I need a hug, or to punch something.

{Compliments of TheLittleThingsWeDo}

  1. The best news I ever received was  probably when I got word that I got my job. I was dangerously close to having to move back to VA (due to "insufficient funds," and the news came right on time!

  2. Something I'm looking forward to is  going to the beach this weekend and spending a few days with my dad and grandparents. I really miss them all and I wish they could move closer (because there is no way I'm moving back to Northern VA!)
  3. Some things I would never do are  pierce my face, move to a place where I couldn't have a dog, show up to work naked.
  4. If I could choose someone to be my life coach (famous or not, living or dead), I'd choose my best friend, Erin, already has that title. If I ever start dating someone again, she's the one who must approve. My track record sucks bad.
  5. If I had to put a label on my style it would be  blank. Style? What's that? I march to the beat of my own drummer.
  6. One should always  wash their hands after using the restroom, no matter if it's #1 or #2, if you're male or female. Just do it. Don't try to reason with me why you shouldn't have to, guys. I once dated a guy who didn't have soap at the sink in his bathroom. We didn't date much longer after that.

  7.  I want to  take a nap, eat a muffin, not be at work, transport myself to the beach so I don't have to drive, win some money...

Last night the dogs were like tumbleweeds, flying around the living room. It was unreal how much energy they had, and they wanted to play right on top of us, literally. The couch is only so big.

...and then there were a few stolen moments of calm, but then they were right back to it. I asked for advice on what my workout shall be today and Kara suggested taking Pippi for a run. I haven't done that yet, but after the shenanigans yesterday, I'll try anything to wear her out so I can sleep through the night!

Fill-in-the-blank FRIDAY (and current dog news)

 {Courtesy of thelittlethingswedo}
  1. I love  sleeping   because  it's awesome! It's hard to wake up without an alarm on the weekend after a great nights' sleep, and not feel refreshed. (Unless you had creepy weird dreams like I did last weekend, that I just had a baby and was pregnant again, and didn't know who the fathers were. CREEPY!)
  2. A time that mama knew best was  ...is there ever a time when she didn't?! My mom is literally the smartest person on the planet.
  3. My first kiss went a little like this  It was ridiculously awkward. I was a junior in high school. Totally lame. Please don't make me relive it.
  4. My celebrity crush is I don't really have a celebrity "crush". There are plenty of celebrities I wouldn't kick out of bed for eating crackers, though.
    Ryan Reynolds. Yum.

Mark Wahlberg. He should probably always be shirtless.
Matthew Morrison. Ever since that episode of Glee when he
took his shirt off, I've been a fan.

    Channing Tatum.

...There are plenty of others, but I'll stop there.
  5.  My splurge of choice is  frozen yogurt, clothes, Starbucks, new workout clothes...there are many.

  6. My biggest accomplishment is  managing to survive 29 years. Woo hoo!

  7. My dance jam of choice is  oh gosh, you do not want me to dance. Really. It's bad.

News...
Roxy...application approved, pending "meet-and-greet" :)
Kristie...application pending

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY eve

Since I didn't post last Friday, I've decided to make today "Fill-in-the-blanks Friday eve" (ok, and also because, in all honesty, the only things on my mind currently are dogs and my next crafty project and I'm sure you're sick of hearing about both of those).

 {Courtesy of thelittlethingswedo}

  1. If I could get away somewhere for the weekend I would go  back to the beach  and I would bring  Erin, so she could enjoy the beach before becoming a Mom in October.
  2. Something I often rant about is  crappy drivers. I wish it was possible to nominate people to have to re-take the driving test. Headlights in the rain? What a concept. Engage my turn signal when I'm going to TURN? Who knew!
  3. One item I need to have in my fridge at all times is pickles! You just never know when that pickle craving will hit.
  4. My "life-saving" product is concealer. On days I don't wear makeup, I at least put some under my eyes. Walking around looking like a zombie is so uncool.
  5. A friend is someone who  loves you even though you're a little bit crazy (or, in my case, a lot crazy). :)
  6. If I could write my own blank it would be  "My worst date ever was                     "
  7. My favorite kind of art is  graphic design, of course! I have a college degree in it. If I answered anything else, it would be blasphemous.

Oh and also, there's one thing I'd like to address. Remember that blog challenge I started at the beginning of May? Well, I started off pretty strong, but it quickly felt more like a chore than a fun challenge, and so I have decided to cease the challenge. Life's too short, my friends.

Today's featured (by me) dog for adoption is Kristie

One thing I'm learning in this dog search process is that it seems like these agencies basically pick the breed names out of a hat. It's obvious to me that Kristie is a Labrador retriever mix. What is she mixed with? There's really no telling. What does the organization say she's mixed with?

A Great Pyrenees

Yeah, I don't buy it either. But she's cute, they say her energy level is "on the lower end of average," (which hopefully means I won't be denied because I have a job, as I was with Pippi. More on that later), and that she'd do well in a home with another dog. I have requested an application for her. We'll see!

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

It's here! Friday is finally here! My weekend will be chill and I'm totally looking forward to it. Jeremy and Amanda will be out-of-town on a family camping trip (that I couldn't make it on because I have to work today and I am volunteering at a food kitchen this afternoon). I'm really bummed to miss it. They're going to have fun, but I get the house to myself. Just me and the dog. Blissful :) My eye is still twitching, which is driving me INSANE. I'm desperate for it to go away. I'll try just about anything at this point. Voo doo? Witchcraft? Some really strange herbal remedy? Bring it!

And now, onward to the blanks

  1. People always tell me I look like  my mom. Check it

  1. Friends don't let friends  walk around with a booger in their nose or wearing see-through pants with patterned undies.

  2. A sunny day is perfect for   everything! Bring on the Vitamin D (and the sunscreen)!

  3. My favorite accessory is  probably earrings. There are so many styles and types. I mean, I have three earring holes in each ear. The possibilities are endless!
  4.  If I could afford it I would  have my own place, my own dog, and my own Mac Laptop with CS5 installed.
  5. The cure for boredom is  ...this is impossible to answer. There are WAY more than one! Just ask someone with a short attention span.

  6. I am currently "in like" with  Pinterest :)

Today's featured (by me) dog for adoption is Marigold

She's a Basset Hound/Lab mix and OHMYGOSH so adorable. Supposedly her mom was the Basset Hound and her dad was the lab. All I have to say is Ouch.

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

I hope everyone had a wonderfully awesome Cinco de Mayo yesterday. My boss had Happy Hour at her place..drinks, snacks, and office gossip. Unfortunately there was no pinata, but I'm willing to forgive :)

  1.  What I love most about my home is getting to see and talk to my brother every day, and to share my nephew-dog with him and my sister-in-law.
  2. I'm excited because DUH, it's Friday!
  3. My preferred method for blowing  off steam when I'm frustrated is   to either get in a good workout or go to sleep. Yes, I realize these are complete opposites. That's how I roll.
  4. Currently I am craving  sleep. Like I said, it's Friday! Sleeping in tomorrow will literally be a gift from Heaven. Heaven rules.
  5. The thing I love most about my mom is   ...do I really have to pick just one thing? She's just awesome. Plain and simple.
  6. If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be  Just Live Through It. It's my thing. When the going gets tough, the tough get going, right?

  7. If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be  This literally changes by the day. Peanut butter or jelly beans or cookies or pizza or bread or oranges or cake or pasta... Today, probably peanut butter. I haven't had peanut butter in days and that just seems wrong. Mmmm...peeeanut butteeerrrr.

And, to celebrate Friday, this is what I'm wearing to work today :)

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

I'm not feeling too wordy today, as I'm busy coming down off my Benadryl high from last night and trying to understand why I had to have such scary, weird dreams. I may be in shock. You don't want to know. Onto the goods!

  1. I am looking forward to  going up to GMU with my mom today to browse the bookstore. Since I work at UNC and am bombarded with baby blue, it's time to get reacquainted with my roots. Green and gold!
  2. Something kind of embarassing that I still love anyway is  wedding stuff. I don't know why. I'm not getting married anytime soon, and I don't necessarily love watching weddings, but all the little details are fun.
  3. My favorite car is  Jeep Wranglers. It's totally my brother's fault.
  4. If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be  Sunny, 70's, no humidity, and a light breeze. And I don't want to have to move to the west coast to get it.
  5. My favorite thing to do after a bad/stressful day is  go to the gym, unless it's my day off and then it's to go home, be welcomed by the dog, and lay in bed for a while. Bed is my happy place.
  6. This weekend  I have to go back home to NC. I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, but not to the drive and not to having to drive into work. Working from home is awesome!
  7. If I were a color, I'd be  purple  because,  it's the best color ever. DUH!!

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

Happy Friday once again. My favorite thing about today? No work!

One little story before we get to the nitty gritty blank filling-in activities. So, yesterday morning on my way to work, I was craving jelly beans (the REAL kind. Sorry, Harry Potter) and a bagel. Real healthy, I know. Well, I stopped at Harris Teeter for jelly beans and Tums (long story about how I was up all night with heartburn). I wanted the regular ol' nothin special Brach's jelly beans (what they call "Premium Jelly Bird Eggs". Yeah, I know. Strange. Yet delicious).

Why I keep craving these things, I'll never know. But they are so cheap I'm not going to question it. So anyhow, back to the story at hand. Harris Teeter let me down and only had the Starburst jelly beans. I was so disappointed. When I got to work I was able to find a bagel, thank goodness, but whenever I thought about the jelly beans, the craving returned.

So, after my workout I stopped to pick up my prescriptions at the pharmacy since I'll be out of town for a week and, guess what!

*Ta da!*

Well, let's just say there was a 15-minute jelly bird egg massacre on my way home. To say I was ecstatic is a gross understatement. And, that price sticker of $2.39? They were actually on sale for 99 cents! (Woop woop!)

And now, because it's Friday...
Yay!

  1. Fridays are  the days I don't mind waking up to go to work, knowing the next morning I can sleep in as long as I want; AND the morning after that, too!
  2. Warm sunny days, endorphins, dogs, time with friends and family, receiving unexpected money, and lots of other things  make me terribly happy.

  3. Something that inspires me is  a great conversation.

  4. If I had the day off today I would  I DID have the day off today! YAY! I drove to Virginia, spent time with my parents, and will be going to bed unbelievably early in preparation for my early morning workout and a long day with family tomorrow.

  5. If I had to put a label on my home decor style, I would say my style is  fun, colorful, random, abstract, I-don't-have-a-style-but-I-like-to-pretend-I-do, If-you-put-a-landscape-painting-in-my-house-I-will-find-a-spot-for-it-in-the-trashcan-out-back.

  6. Concerning politics I would say I'm  undefined.

  7. I'd like to go to  Hawaii  so I could  enjoy the weather, water, landscape, and be able to say that I went to Hawaii and had to be drugged and dragged back home because I didn't want to leave.

Happy Easter Weekend!
Enjoy yourself some jelly beans, and remember to bite the head off the chocolate bunny first so you don't have to listen to him scream :)

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

Once again, we made it to Friday! Thankfully, this week has been relatively painless, but knowing that I can sleep in tomorrow is a priceless revelation. I'm not, however, looking forward to this:

This will mark the 1.74 billionth Saturday in a row of crappy weather. This whole work week was sunny and warm. I'd tell Mother Nature to "bite me", but I think this is her version of biting me, kicking me, and eating my brain.

On a more fun note, I got my Bondi Band in the mail on Wednesday that I won in Kara's giveaway! I, of course, tried it out during my kickboxing workout yesterday. It seemed to stay in place. It didn't fly off my head, so that's a start! Since I'm a huge skeptic, I have to try it during a couple more workouts in order to give it my 100% approval, but so far so good.
"flying pig" in purple

Also, just in case you need to feel better about yourself this morning: during my workout yesterday, I ended up uppercut punching myself in the chin. Oh yes, my friends, I'm that cool.
At least my shorts are awesome!

And now onto

  1. My favorite daily responsibility is  uhh..."favorite responsibility"? Does eating count?

  2. My least favorite daily responsibility is  showering. It's a daily necessity and, don't get me wrong, I enjoy being clean and not smelling, but it's such a time suck. I could be using that time to do more important things; like eating or sleeping.
  3. My favorite cuisine to eat when going out is  Chick-fil-a. For some reason I'm always craving it on Sundays, the only day they aren't open.
  4. My favorite cuisine to prepare at home is  Italian. I could probably eat it every day. It's totally Italian food's fault for being so easy to prepare.
  5. Andy Warhol said that everyone is famous for 15 minutes. My claim to fame is   uhh... uhm... does it count if I was only "famous" to my parents? Like, when I graduated college? Or the first time I peed on the potty?
  6. If I could have 3 wishes I would wish  for a raise (or to win a ton of money so that I can get my own place and afford gas), that my family would move closer, for awesome abs.

  7. My biggest pet peeve is  mean people, I guess. I have lots of pet peeves. Mean people take the cake.

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

Is it really Friday or am I hallucinating? Because, dude, I've been waiting for this day since Monday morning. I'm not one to wish my life away, don't get me wrong, but this week...man, this week. I should have known it would be a doozy when, on Sunday evening, I was joking with my friend that "If I die this week, you get my purple chair and jewelry. Your hubby can have the Jeep. Your dog can have all my blankets". She just wanted my movie collection. At least my death will benefit someone. :-P

Happy wonderfullyawesomelyfantasic Friday! And now we've got some blanks to fill in...

  1. Something that makes me a great friend is  I love my friends and do anything that I can for them. In turn, they make me feel like I'm not a huge weirdo, which I appreciate.
  2.  I am   obsessed with getting things done. If something needs to be done "in the next two days," I'll have it done in an hour so that I can play the rest of the time.
  3. I am not  patient. Don't make me wait too long, or suffer the wrath (especially if the thing I'm waiting for is food).
  4. If I had to describe myself in 3 words, they would be  thoughtful, un-sedentary (we can make up words, right?), and secretly-cynical.
  5. Something I'm really cheap about is  spending money in general. I don't make much, so what I do make, I have to try to spread out. Most of my clothes are from the sale/clearance rack, Target, or an outlet store. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm cheap, but it's not my fault.
  6. Something I'm willing to splurge on is  Starbucks and gym clothes. I only get Starbucks once a week or so, so I think it's OK to go for the fancy latté for $4, and I wear gym clothes most days of the week...over and over and over, so I definitely get my money's worth from them. (and cheap gym clothes aren't normally worth the reduced price).
  7. I would trade  my baby toes  for  Summer year-round   in a heartbeat. My baby toes are blister-prone and the little bit of patience I have has run out for dealing with it. I've contemplated having them chopped off more than once.

 (courtesy of thelittlethingswedo)

So, remember how I've mentioned several times how challenging this week has been? This morning when I got to my office, there was something on my chair with a note on it. I figured it was yet another last-minute project, due yesterday, but on further inspection I realized it was

I vaguely remember a while ago discussing with my boss how, if I had the money, I'd get a subscription to REAL SIMPLE magazine. I guess she really was listening, AND she noticed how hard I worked this week, and bought me the latest issue to thank me. I mean, really, do I have the best boss ever, or what? (The answer is HELL YES, you do!) I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

TGIF!!!

P.S. I just noticed one of the articles in the magazine is: "How to Stop Procrastinating—NOW". I know a few people I'd like to hand a photocopy of that article to.

Fill-in-the-blanks FRIDAY

Thanks to all that is good and wonderful, today is FRIDAY! For some reason I've been so exhausted this week. I was in bed before 8pm last night and when the alarm went off this morning I wanted to cry.

And then my morning went like this: after breakfast and getting ready for work, I went to put on my monogram ring (one of my favorites and a gift from Amanda) and I couldn't find it. I searched maybe ten minutes before deciding to just sulk about it and put on a different ring, and so I did...and realized the monogram ring was already on my finger.

I then went downstairs to gather my things and head to work. I had to climb up on the counter to reach the only travel coffee mug left, in the back of the cabinet. I poured the coffee, got out the creamer, and knocked the mug of coffee all over the counter. I took it as a sign...

and let Starbucks make my coffee this morning. Meet my grandé skim peppermint latté. Yes, grandé. I just didn't think the tall was going to cut it this morning.

I've always been told that things happen in threes, so I spent the drive to work SURE I was going to hit a deer, or a person, or a telephone pole. But surprise surprise, none of the above ensued. Woo hoo! I was, however, asked by a coworker two doors down, via email, if I have a spoon. I did. And I was hoping I wasn't the butt of a joke and that she wasn't going to follow it up with..."wanna spoon with me?", or something equally as horrifying.

Anyhow, happy frickin Friday!! Onto the goods...
  1. The best prank I ever pulled was  something lame; probably the time I helped my mom with a surprise birthday party for my stepdad. It was epic, but I'm not sure that it's a "prank". I've sort of sworn off of pranks ever since an unfortunate April Fool's joke in college (not done by me, but blamed on me) gone horribly wrong.
  2. The best prank ever pulled on me was  again, this isn't exactly a "prank", but I'm not feeling very nostalgic today. When I won my award last week, my coworkers very slyly kept it a secret from me, which was awesome.
  3. A day without  love from the dog  is a day wasted.
  4. The most important things in life are  relationships. All kinds of relationships. And purple. And peanut butter. And cookies.
  5. I dream of  Genie! (no, not really.) I dream of all sorts of strange things. I'm not sure where most of my dreams come from and I wish I could dream of normal things, like flying purple unicorns.
  6. I dread  getting up in the morning to go to work. I love my job, I just wish there were more hours between nighttime and morning time to get more sleep.
  7. A discovery I made this week was  it's all right here. The days of referring to myself as a "dork" are definitely over.
(courtesy of thelittlethingswedo)

And now, in honor of April Fools' Day, a prank that my stepdad said he and his siblings used to pull on each other when they were younger: Put a rubber band around the kitchen sink sprayer so that the trigger is engaged and when the unsuspecting victim turns on the water, it sprays at them. Video here (because it's just funnier to see it in action).

Happy Friday!
